Powell's Sweet Shoppe is an old-time, old-fashioned, old-world candy store taken from America's imagination.
Everyone has an extremely vivid and pleasant memory of where they went as a child to get their favorite candy - whether it was the corner store or their Grandma's candy dish. Powell's Sweet Shoppes are a nostalgic re-creation of that classic and bygone era.
On the surface we sell gelato and sweets, but you don't have to stand in the Shoppe too long before you realize that what we really offer are memories. "I feel like a kid in a candy store!" and "I haven't seen that since I was a kid!" are far and away the most common things we hear. And that is precisely our goal. We want to walk our customers down memory lane and remind them of good things and good times.
During any given season whether it’s Christmas, Valentine’s or simply summer Powell’s is guaranteed to have a unique selection of holiday themed products. It is truly an experience to wander through the depths of the Powell’s product assortment. Can’t find what you are looking for? Chances are we have it, you just can’t see it. Ask anyone of the helpful Powell’s associates to assist you in finding exactly what you are looking for.
One of the best ways to maneuver through a Powell’s is to watch for the helpful overhead signs that inform you as to what part of the store you are in. Names such as “Memory Lane”, “Toys”, and “Novelty” assist you in sorting through all the goods! Also, while your sights are skyward, take advantage of checking out all the exceptional memorabilia that covers the store from floor to ceiling
Memory Lane is where you will find all of the candies from your childhood that you thought were long gone. The always favorites are Abba Zabas, Bubble Gum Cigarettes, Mountain Bars, Idaho Spuds, GooGoo Clusters, Cherry Mash and Zotz just to name a few.
In Powell’s toy section you will find many toys that used to entertain you as a child. We have the classic Ant Farm, Spud Gun, Original Jack-in-the- Box, The Original Slinky, Yo-yos, Jacks, Pick up Sticks, the list goes on and on.
Besides the items from yesteryear we also have all the new latest and greatest items. These items are placed throughout the store but, you will find many of them in the “Novelty” section. The soda pop candies, anything video game themed and new TV and movie character themed items. If it gushes, slurps and oozes it will be in this section!
For a more refined palette you will want to discover our International/Fine Chocolate section that has representation from countries across the globe. As wide as the location selection is, the same can be said for flavors and fillings. If your are looking for bacon and chocolate, we have that; nuts and chocolate, got it; berries and chocolate we’ve got you covered. Come take a trip around the world in this section.
Want guaranteed freshness? Then you’ll want to head to the homemade chocolate case. Here you will find a delicious selection of hand made truffles, caramels, along with classic chocolate desserts like turtles and English toffee. Looking for a unique dessert? What about the chocolate dipped S’mores, gigantic peanut butter cups and huge M&M cups. There is sure to be something to make you drool in this case.
Looking for a treat for the movies? We can help you there too! Powell’s has a theater section, complete with our own movie: “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” (the original) of course! Take a seat in our old fashion theater seats and take in a few scenes of this classic movie. While you’re there let your eyes roam over the stacks and stacks of classic theater candy like Red Vines, Flicks, Goobers, Good and Plenty, Sour Patch Kids and Whoppers.
One of the biggest attractions of Powell’s is our huge selection of bulk candy. This is hard to miss; like a beacon for your sweet tooth. Everything from Chocolate Candy Rocks to Peach O’s; Gummi Fried Eggs to Double Salted Licorice and everything in between; all can be mixed and matched in one convenient bag. Don’t like your candies to mix? No problem, put them in separate bags.
Is your mouth watering yet? Wondering where you can get samples? Step right up to Powell’s Gelato case. What’s Gelato you ask? Gelato is Italian ice cream that is made with the same ingredients as American ice cream (sugar, milk and cream). There two main differences, first, Gelato has more cream so it’s more rich and flavorful and second, it’s made with about 50 percent less air, making Gelato very dense, almost a taffy texture. Look for seasonal favorites like Pumpkin and Peppermint Bark or all year favorites like Carmelo Chocolate Crunch, Bavarian Mint and Crème Brule.
