Come taste the soul of the Santa Cruz Mountains at Burrell School Vineyards, where our special mountain terroir speaks to you in every wine we make. We began planting the vineyards when the Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989 gave us a wake up call. Chalkboards fell off the walls, revealing original redwood boards painted black: some still with old lesson plans dating to 1906. Realizing time was fleeting, we finally made our dream of having a vineyard a reality, putting in nearly 20 acres by hand with the help of old Cletrac tractors. We farm sustainably, believing if you take care of the land, it takes care of you.

Our handcrafted winemaking lets each wine express its natural voice. Delight in our “Teacher’s Pet” Chardonnay, “Principal’s Choice” Pinot Noir, “Extra Credit” Cabernet Franc, “Detention” Zinfandel, and our popular Old School Cabernet.

We are passionate caretakers of this historical place, sharing its beauty and its bounty with our visitors and preserving it for the next generation.
